ETH-LAD, 6-ethyl-6-nor-lysergic acid diethylamide
ETH-LAD, is a modified version of LSD. It has subtle differences in its effects, which are described as less demanding. 6-Ethyl-6-no-lysergic acid diethyleneamide is a lesser-known psychedelic substance that has a similar action to LSD. It is known to stimulate serotonin receptors in the brain.
It was first described in Alexander Shulgin’s book TiHKAL (1997) as a psychedelic substance that can alter the visual distortion that people usually experience when using LSD.
It has been shown that ETH-LAD can be more potent than LSD when used at high doses. According to some reports, it exhibits a wide variety of effects, including hallucinations and visual distortions, and it can also produce a more neutral head space.
ETH-LAD is also known to cause physical effects that are more severe and persistent. These include nausea and temperature dysregulation. It has also been theorized that its unpredictable dose response could make it harder to predict.
Chemistry
ETH-LAD is a 6-ethyl-6-nor-LYsergic acid diethylamide. It is a structurally analogue of lysergic acid. This polycyclic structure has two overlapping tryptamine skeletons. It also has a bicyclic quinoline group fused to a bicyclic hexahydroindole.
ETH-LAD does not have a methyl group substituted at R6 in its nor-lysergic acid skeleton. Instead, it is substituted with an ethyl group.
Pharmacology
Like LSD, ETH-LAD is a partial agonist of the 5-HT2A receptor. Its effects are believed to originate from the wide variety of different receptors that it has been observed to interact with.
The interactions with ETH-LAD are subject to more scientific investigation.
